- November, 2009 - Dr. Luke Shwart was appointed to the new position of Dental Health Officer with
Alberta Health Services, Government of Alberta. Dr. Shwart will replace Dr. Steve Patterson on the FPTDWG, who was filling in for Alberta during the time that the province did not have a dental division.
- November, 2009 - Dr. Khalida Hai-Santiago was appointed to the position of
Dental Consultant,
Environmental Health Branch,
Public Health Division,
Manitoba Health & Healthy Living. Dr. Hai-Santiago will be the Manitoba representative on the Federal, Provincial and Territorial Dental Working Group.
- November, 2009 - Health Canada, the Canadian Dental Association (CDA), the Dental Industry Association of Canada (DIAC), and the Dentistry Canada Fund (DCF) partnered together on a health promotion campaign, designed to raise awareness on oral health in general and more specifically on oral cancer.
- December, 2008 - Ontario is increasing the eligibility for its CINOT program from age 14 to 17, effective January 1, 2009. See the letter from the Honourable Margarett Best, Minister of Health Promotion, announcing this increase.
Health Promotion Campaign
Health Canada, the Canadian Dental Association (CDA), the Dental Industry Association of Canada (DIAC), and the Dentistry Canada Fund (DCF) partnered together on a health promotion campaign, designed to raise awareness on oral health in general and more specifically on oral cancer. The target audience for this campaign is the general population with focus on women aged 25 to 55.
The plan involves the production and distribution of the following
products:
Oral Health Informational Booklet
The booklet will highlight 3 pertinent topics in oral health:
Oral health and general health,
Brushing, Flossing and other tips; and
Oral Cancer.
